I just came back from a trip to Summit to pick up an English 9 unit for Hannah. Yesterday Hannah reached a place where she was stalled as she is waiting for some books (requested at the local library) to move forward with her Social Studies Project. She has been consistent with PE, is waiting for contact from the French Teacher, and is awaiting an email reply for her Foods course. She is leaving Math and Science until last as she is concerned about retaining the skills/knowledge into next year if she completes these courses too early in the year. So far the teachers have been very responsive with emails and our experience with all Summit staff has been good. Some of the courses are in transition from "paper based" to online courses and since they are not complete (in an online form) Hannah has to do paper based. Summit does not have some of these paper based courses on the shelf and so we are waiting for them to come from Victoria. My impression is that the staff is eager to complete these transitions, but the time is not available to them to work on these projects. More staffing and more funding would be helpful- true for all public education in our Province at the moment. For now at least, she has some English to work on. It looks like it will be several days before she runs out of work to do there. I just received a news letter from Summit today and it appears that the "Art Smarts" opportunities will be released on their website tomorrow. Hannah is eagerly looking forward to see what options are there that she can participate in.
That's it for today.....
Scott
